North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity

Founded with the vision and energy of Ivo Bauman in 1986, North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity is the second of 33 affiliates established in Oregon. In the last 25 years, 37 homes have been constructed by volunteers and purchased by local Habitat families: one in Scotts Mills, six in Woodburn, seven in Mt. Angel, 14 in Silverton, three in Gervais, and six in Canby. In addition, NWV Habitat has built 55 homes overseas for a total of over 90 families served! This affiliate also serves Aurora, Hubbard, and Molalla.

Our Executive Director

Meet
Jerry Ambris

Jerry joined NWV Habitat for Humanity in July 2009 after serving on the Board of Directors. As a Family Selection Committee member, he illustrated his passion for family support, equality and reaching out to low-income families. “I was raised in Section 8 multifamily housing through my adolescent years,” Jerry, a native of Woodburn, said. “I have experienced the same conditions as our partner families which gives me the inside track on what these families are truly going through and the day-to-day decisions that most people don’t even think about.”

Jerry previously worked as the Housing and Community Development Manager at Farmworker Housing Development Corp. (FHDC) in Woodburn and led the development of 128 new and rehabilitated affordable housing units in Marion and Polk Counties. His ultimate goal for NWV Habitat for Humanity is simple: to build more decent, affordable homes for hardworking, deserving families.
